A three-judge appeals panel rejected Apple’s request to pause an April 30 order banning the company from charging a fee on in-app iPhone transactions processed outside its once-exclusive payment system in a two-page decision issued late Thursday.

Developers including Amazon and Spotify have been able to update their apps to avoid Apple's 15% to 30% commission.

Apple must now allow app developers to include web links and external payment options in their iOS apps after a court rejected the company’s attempt to delay a previous ruling. This decision is part of an ongoing legal battle that began in 2020, when Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, sued Apple over the App Store’s strict rules and high fees.
