Apple released the iOS 26 public beta
Digest more
After a month of developer testing, Apple is ready to unleash iOS 26 for wider testing. Here's why you might want to wait.
iOS 26 looks new and modern. And for once, how Apple describes it — liquid glass — makes sense: it’s a lot of layers of transparent elements overlapping and, in places, the animations are quite… liquidy. Menus and buttons will respond to your touch, with some of them coalescing around your finger and sometimes separating out into new menus.
Apple has reportedly been working on a HomePod with a screen for years, and a new leak from iOS 26 seems to confirm its existence.
As with every iOS update, iOS 26 will bring with it some changes for the CarPlay interface that appears when your iPhone is connected to your vehicle – and Apple has now quietly confirmed that one of those changes will be support for video playback.
