Doctor Who actress Millie Gibson has issued an emotional statement on Instagram as Ncuti Gatwa's final scenes as the Doctor were aired last night. Gibson, who has played the role of Ruby Sunday, stood beside Gatwa as the timelord's companion as he made his debut as the 15th Doctor.

In the climax of Saturday’s Finale of “ Doctor Who ” Series 15, Gatwa’s Doctor regenerates into Billie Piper, who previously played companion Rose Tyler in Series 1 (2005) and Series 2 (2006). She also made a brief appearance as Rose Tyler in Series 4 (2008) and was in the “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary special in 2013.

To the shock of fans, Ncuti Gatwa regenerated in Doctor Who's series finale yesterday, but the surprise face who replaced him in the TARDIS may not be what it seems.
