Philadelphia Phillies closer Jhoan Duran was driven off the field after he took a comebacker off the outer part of his right ankle in the ninth inning of a 6-2 victory at Washington.

Duran, 27, was acquired from the Minnesota Twins prior to the July 31 trade deadline. He has been electric in his two weeks with the Phillies, throwing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. For the season, Duran has a 1.86 ERA with 20 saves in 53 1/3 innings.

During the ninth inning of the Phillies’ 6-2 win over the Nationals on Friday, Duran, 27, got struck in the right ankle with a 94 mph liner hit by third baseman Paul DeJong, leaving the closer in immense pain. Medical personnel rushed out to the field following the blow, where Duran appeared to struggle putting any weight on his right leg.
