CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Guardians were looking to start a weekend series in Kansas City on Friday night, but Mother Nature had other ideas. The Royals announced before the game could even get started that there would be no game, it was rained out. The two teams will compete in a double-header on Saturday.
KANSAS CITY — The Guardians have exchanged one infielder for another before opening their three-game series against the Royals on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium. They’ve activated Gabriel Arias from the injured list and optioned Will Wilson to Triple-A Columbus. Arias was placed on the IL with a sprained left ankle on June 30.
Arias will play shortstop and hit sixth for the Guardians in their series opener against the Kansas City Royals. Arias had a .263 batting average and a .474 slugging percentage in the week leading up to the injury. Hopefully, he can pick up right where he left off.
