NVIDIA resumes shipping its H20 AI GPU into China, piggybacking its new B30 AI GPU for China later this year, thanks to US export restriction ease.

Twenty national security experts warn that Trump's approval of Nvidia H20 chip sales to China undermines U.S. AI leadership, as the chips outperform higher-ranked models on critical inference tasks already being used by Chinese tech giants.

The letter states that allowing sales of the H20 AI chip to China could hurt the U.S.'s AI "edge" and worsen chip bottlenecks in the U.S.

"More chips for China means fewer chips for the US," experts said, noting that "China’s biggest tech firms, including Tencent, ByteDance, and Alibaba," have spent $16 billion on bulk-ordered H20 chips over the past year.
