Kentucky has since reloaded at the guard position through the transfer portal. The two most recent additions are Denzel Aberdeen from Florida and Jaland Lowe from Pittsburgh, who averaged 16.8 points per game last season. They join Kam Williams, a guard from Tulane, as part of the new backcourt rotation.

Kentucky walk-on Grant Darbyshire, a 6-foot-2 Cincinnati native, joined the Wildcats ahead of the 2022-23 season under John Calipari. In high school, he helped lead Sycamore to a school-best 20-3 record and a Greater Miami Conference championship in his senior year.
