Firefighters are trying to contain several more fires on the Western Slope, and air quality alerts are in effect for much of the state.

MONTROSE, Colo. (KJCT) - Montrose County issued Evacuations for residences on M73, N73, N74, and O74 roads. Below is a map provided by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. All zones 1-6 are asked to evacuate immediately. As of 6:23 pm, July 12, the South Rim Fire burns at 2,982 acres and is 0% contained.

Montrose County Sheriff's Office issued a public alert for an immediate evacuation for residents living on certain roads in the county, due to Black Canyon of the Gunnison park's South Rim Fire.

Officials are ordering evacuations in Montrose County because of the South Rim Fire. They ordered these on Saturday. It’s for residents on M73, N73, N74 AND O74 roads.They are asking that you leave the area immediately.

Governor Jared Polis on Sunday made a verbal disaster declaration for a series of wildfires burning in Montrose, Delta and Mesa counties, according to a news release.

The Deer Creek and South Rim fires are burning in Montrose County, with the South Rim Fire estimated at 3,500 acres as of Sunday morning. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in southwestern Colorado is closed due to wildfires on both rims of the canyon.

On Friday, Montrose County issued evacuation orders at 5:39 p.m. due to the rapid movement of the South Rim Fire at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The mandatory evacuations include all Bostwick Park residents and the K73 Trail.
