British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has delayed the launch of its electric Range Rover and Jaguar models to allow time for more testing and for demand to pick up, The Guardian reported on Friday.

The British automaker claimed it needed more time for testing while it waited for stronger demand. However, there’s more to the story. According to The Guardian, Jaguar Land Rover wrote to clients waiting for the Range Rover Electric, telling them deliveries will not start until 2026.

Interest in electric luxury vehicles remains strong, but for some automakers, getting new models to market is proving slower than planned. More than 60,000 people have reportedly lined up for Range Rover’s first all-electric SUV. Jaguar, meanwhile, is staking its entire brand on an all-new, all-electric future.
