SB Nation on MSNNewcastle not expected to pursue Sean Longstaff replacement: ReportSean Longstaff is set to leave Newcastle United in a £12 million deal with Leeds United, but the club is not expected to immediately pursue a like-for-like replacement in midfield. According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail,
Sean Longstaff's Newcastle United exit is drawing closer as the academy graduate bids farewell to the club he has called home for over 20 years. The midfielder, who struggled for game time under Eddie Howe last term, is closing in on a move to Leeds United that will see him once again earn regular minutes, while remaining close to the north east.
Leeds United, fresh off promotion, are moving like a club with a plan. According to The Athletic, the Elland Road side have agreed a deal in principle to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United. The fee is reportedly £10 million plus £2 million in add-ons, after what was the third bid for the midfielder.
TalkSPORT says Newcastle have accepted an offer from Leeds for the homespun midfielder. Leeds had a previous offer of £10m rejected by the Magpies. Longstaff is set to leave St James' Park having made 214 appearances for his hometown club.
