Popular Tex-Mex chain On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday, March 4. The brand owned by Atlanta’s Argonne Capital Group said inflation was to blame for the bankruptcy protection filing, which has been a challenge for many similar chains.

A Chapter 11 court filing shows the popular Mexican grill and cantina is seeking to reject leases on 77 locations it had deemed underperforming. Causal dining chains had a pretty bad 2024 when it came to solvency issues.

On The Border, a casual Tex-Mex dining chain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. The company currently operates around 60 locations across the United States, including one in Memphis, and these locations are expected to remain both open and operational during the process.
