Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth sent a message to NATO’s European members on Wednesday that the U.S. is not “primarily focused on the security of Europe.” Hegseth offered a couple minutes of opening remarks ahead of Wednesday’s Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Belgium,

The U.S. defense secretary also said that a return to Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders, before Russia invaded Crimea and eastern Ukraine, “is an unrealistic objective.”
