Novak Djokovic suffered a shock straight-sets defeat to Alejandro Tabilo in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday. The 24-time Grand Slam champion was beaten 6-3, 6-4 by the 32nd-ranked Chilean in a stunning upset.

Alejandro Tabilo, who handed the 24-time Grand Slam champion a surprising loss at the Italian Open last year, beat Djokovic 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters. Back on clay, Djokovic said afterward he didn't have high expectations.

Novak Djokovic is out of the Monte Carlo Masters, after his second consecutive defeat to Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo. A single break in each set proved enough for the world No. 32 in Monaco, who triumphed 6-3, 6-4 to back up his straight-sets win over Djokovic at last year’s Italian Open in Rome.
