Today a tree-covered road through Greenock’s west end, Bedford Street takes its named from the statesman, Francis Russell, the fifth Duke of Bedford, who lived from 1765 to 1802.

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved parish priest who devoted more than 60 years of his life to caring for people in Inverclyde and beyond.
