Some U.S. states could be treated with a northern lights display due a minor geomagnetic storm on the sun, according to space forecasts.

If using a regular camera, photography experts told National Geographic to use wide-angle lenses, an aperture or F-stop of four or less and a focus set to the farthest possible setting. If using a smartphone, NOAA recommends turning on night mode and disabling flash.

Viewing opportunities in the northern lights forecast are significantly better than initially reported yesterday and encompass most of Michigan for the night of Wednesday, March 26, and into the early hours of Thursday morning.
