Senate Bill 13 would create school library advisory councils largely made up of parents. It would give school boards, rather than librarians, the final say over new books.

But a new bill moving through the Texas state capitol would change the way books are selected at public school libraries. Senate Bill 13, introduced by Sen. Angela Paxton, would give district school boards and parents the power over which books are allowed on school library shelves.

One bill would allow districts to give students time to pray during school hours. The other bill is related to having the Ten Commandments in classrooms.
