People living near two of the town's six air-raid sirens did not hear them go off at all​, and five nights later, those two sirens were still malfunctioning.

National Weather Service had two teams out in the field, one tracking storm damage in northeastern Illinois and the other tracking damage from Monee, Illinois, into Gary.
