A work train speeding at 100mph has slammed into a group of maintenance workers in Brandizzo, Italy. Five crew members died while two others were sent to the hospital.

Five Italian workers in a night rail maintenance crew were killed when they were struck by a passing train traveling at high speed on the main line between Milan and Turin in the north of the country.

This is the third major train accident in Italy in recent years. In 2020, Two rail workers died and 31 passengers were injured when a train derailed near Lodi, south of Milan.
