Chicago air quality remains in the top five worst in the world Friday with an Air Quality Alert in place from Canadian wildfire smoke.

Minnesota's current air quality alert has been extended through Monday. Wildfire smoke continues to affect air quality statewide, including in the Mankato region. The level of the extended alert is expected to be in the red air quality index category,

The advisory now runs through the late afternoon on Saturday, with expected air quality rated from moderate (yellow) to unhealthy (red).
