Doctor Who actress Millie Gibson has issued an emotional statement on Instagram as Ncuti Gatwa's final scenes as the Doctor were aired last night. Gibson, who has played the role of Ruby Sunday, stood beside Gatwa as the timelord's companion as he made his debut as the 15th Doctor.

Ncuti Gatwa is exiting the Tardis. In the climax of Saturday’s Finale of “Doctor Who” Series 14, Gatwa’s Doctor regenerates into Billie Piper, who previously played companion Rose Tyler in Series 1 (2005) and Series 2 (2006).

In the show's new season finale, Gatwa morphed into a familiar face who will presumably become the second female star to play the Doctor.
