U.S. Treasury employees may need to respond now to Musk’s email, but leaders at other agencies have told their workers to ignore it altogether, according to CNN. Decisionmakers at the Pentagon, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Justice have told employees to just not respond to Musk’s demands.

Trump claimed Monday that any agencies saying not to respond to the email were doing it "in a friendly manner."

In an email, Elon Musk told hundreds of thousands of federal workers they have until just before Tuesday to explain what they accomplished over the last week. Some departments told employees not to respond.

The request for employees to outline their job accomplishments has been met with pushback from departments and agencies.
