A central section of the MBTA through Downtown Boston will close Thursday night through Sunday for the second straight weekend as work crews conduct planned maintenance, transit authorities said. Subway service on the T’s Red Line will shut down beginning at 8:30 p.

Service on one of the MBTA’s commuter rail lines was disrupted on Tuesday afternoon after a car crashed into a train, officials said. The driver of a Tesla drove around closed crossing gates and struck a commuter rail train in Hingham, a Keolis spokesperson told Boston 25 News.

The station underwent a renovation project that started in 2022 to ensure all riders in the area can access the Commuter Rail.

A person died after they were struck by an MBTA Blue Line train, with shuttles provided to passengers at the station.

The MBTA will close a sizable portion of the Red Line and offer shuttle service instead both this weekend and the next in order to tackle planned maintenance.
