A Warrenton man who has fought skin and brain cancer won a $1 million Powerball prize Saturday, the Oregon Lottery said. Aaron Bendickson, 48, was medically retired from the U.S. Army after he was diagnosed with skin cancer at 23, the lottery said. He has since also battled brain cancer.

One lucky California Lottery player matched five numbers in Monday night's drawing. That means the single ticket is worth a whopping $427,953. The lucky ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven store located at 512 S. Chapel Ave. in Alhambra.

More than 375,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said. The Powerball jackpot was last won May 31, when a California player hit the $204.5 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
