Cleanup efforts are underway after two tornadoes touched down in Wharton County early Thursday morning. According to the National Weather Service, the first tornado was classified as an EF-1, with winds reaching up to 100 miles per hour.
The tornadoes arose from the severe storms that had been rolling across Southeast Texas since before dawn Thursday. No one was reported injured.

WHARTON COUNTY, Texas - Two tornadoes have been confirmed to have touched down in Wharton County early Thursday morning. The first tornado reportedly touched down at 3:05 a.m. in northeastern Wharton County. The tornado was confirmed as an EF-1 tornado, with winds reaching 100mph.
Smoke from the Mines Sprung Fire, as state officials have named it, had created “hazardous” air quality conditions throughout the Philadelphia region the first half of Saturday, according to AirNow.

The stretch of Tuckerton Road between Washington Turnpike and Carranza Road is closed, as is Bulldozer Road and multiple local forest paths. Part of the Batona Trail, which winds through the Pine Barrens, is also closed. Hikers can't access the path between Carranza and Bulldozer roads.
"We’re doing our best to stay strong for our children, but the financial strain of repairs, temporary housing, and lost income has been overwhelming," she wrote.
