(AP) — The San Francisco 49ers began their search for a new defensive coordinator Thursday by interviewing Robert Saleh for a second stint at the job and Detroit Lions assistant Deshea Townsend.
The Las Vegas Raiders have requested to interview Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph for their head coaching position. He is the seventh known candidate for the position after Antonio Pierce was fired last week.
Two other names the Cowboys have been linked to are Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders. ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Coach Prime has had a conversation with owner Jerry Jones about the opening, but this does not count as a formal interview.
For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.
