Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia made it a sweep for host Italy on the course for next year's Milan-Cortina Olympics.

Federica Brignone further cemented her place at the top of the overall World Cup standings with her win on home snow on Sunday (19 January). Lindsey Vonn looked good before she slid out halfway through her run.

Sofia Goggia is the outstanding winner in the downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter miss out on the podium, but finish in 4th and 5th place, while Lindsey Vonn fails to achieve a top result today after a scary moment.

Sofia Goggia solidified her status as the favorite for another downhill gold by winning Saturday for the fourth time on the course for next year's Olympics.

The second downhill of the winter is coming up in St. Anton. As always, Lara Gut-Behrami is one of the favorites. After the strong super-G in St. Moritz, Lindsey Vonn will also be making her comeback in the downhill.

Lindsey Vonn fell while on pace for a top-five finish at a World Cup super-G on Sunday to mark the second time she has gone down in four days during her comeback to ski racing at age 40. Again, the American came away mostly unscathed.

Vonn finished 1.68 behind Goggia. The American standout returned to the circuit last month when she finished 14th in a super-G in St. Moritz. Then she placed sixth and fourth in a downhill and a super-G, respectively, in St. Anton, Austria, last weekend.

Lindsey Vonn gave the crowd a scare when she crashed out on the third sector of the World Cup super-G race at Cortina but emerged unharmed.

Swiss Olympic champions Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter placed fourth and fifth, respectively, and defending downhill World Cup champion Cornelia Huetter placed sixth. Jacqueline Wiles in seventh was the top American finisher.
