Notorious scam centers in the Golden Triangle between Myanmar, Thailand and Laos steal billions of dollars a year from U.S. citizens.

Thailand and Cambodia share a border of 508 miles. The Thai defence ministry has previously proposed a wall to block off a 34 mile natural crossing between Thailand's Sa Kaeo province and Poipet, which at present is only protected by razor wire.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that as many as 525 Indonesian citizens are involved in online scam. They are currently trapped in Myanmar.

Thailand will study the feasibility of building a wall along part of its border with Cambodia to prevent illegal crossings, government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub said on Monday.

Smuggling crackdown follows Thailand’s export restrictions, sparking fears of worsening price hikes and shortages.
