Gov. Ron DeSantis went on the offensive on Friday, again going after the Florida Legislature on the contentious issue of illegal immigration.

The governor plans to use his Florida Freedom Fund, which was key in defeating marijuana and abortion measures last year, to support strong conservative candidates against defiant legislators.

Flanked by Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, Gov. Ron DeSantis said the bill would deter local law enforcement from deporting undocumented immigrants.

DeSantis isn’t necessarily confident that the current court would support his and Trump’s view on birthright citizenship based on his subsequent comments responding to a poster who hoped Sen. Ashley Moody would have a chance to confirm a conservative jurist to replace a “liberal justice.”
