The Washington County Circuit Court ruled in Coger’s favor, finding the open meetings provisions of the FOIA applied to a meeting of a county subcommittee and awarding $5,445 in costs and attorney’s fees to Coger. The county appealed, but the court of appeals affirmed the lower court’s decision in favor of Coger today.

Shortly after Zimmerman announced her retirement, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders appointed Dawn Egan to replace her. Egan will serve as a judge for Arkansas' Fourth Judicial Circuit, Division 3. Zimmerman's retirement is effective March 1, and the term expires Dec. 31, 2026.
