The New York Knicks have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season and it looks like the decision to trade Julius Randle for Karl-Anthony Towns was a good one. However, they struggled mightily in a blockbuster matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night.

In the eyes of Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, Thibodeau should not be criticized for one of his most notable — or infamous, depending on the perspective — philosophies.

New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has faced the same criticism since he took over the Chicago Bulls in 2010: he plays his star players big minutes throughout the season, and that led to wear-and-tear come playoff time.

The Knicks suffered one of their worst losses of the season on Friday, and Thibs' choices continue to make less and less sense.

The Knicks inconsistency stood out in a roller-coaster weekend against the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

With a 112-98 win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden, Thibodeau became just the fifth boss in Knicks history to reach 200 victories at the Manhattan helm. Thibodeau sits at the double-century mark alongside Red Holzman (613), Joe Lapchick (326), Jeff Van Gundy (248), and Pat Riley (223).

As they prepared for Friday night’s meeting at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks could roll the film from their first meeting with Oklahoma City a week ago and pick out corrections to make and maybe even — at least in the case of coach Tom Thibodeau — still steam over a mistaken call that helped the game slip away in the final minutes.

A lengthy Knick homestand opened on a sour note, as New York dropped a 103-94 decision to shorthanded Orlando Magic. It was part one of a 14-game stretch that sees the Knicks remained stationed on the Eastern Seaboard until the final days before the trade deadline.
