An ice hockey player whose skate fatally cut the neck of a fellow player during a match will not face criminal charges, British prosecutors said on Tuesday after a police investigation into the 2023 incident in northern England.

A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson has been told he will not face any charges.

British prosecutors said "there is not a realistic prospect of conviction for any criminal offense" by Sheffield Steelers defenseman Matt Petgrave on Oct. 28, 2023.
