Why is that? — A.L. Answer: The gravestones in Salem Moravian Graveyard are flat, white marble. They are original, from the first burial, John Birkhead on June 7, 1771, to today.
"Some (grave markers) wer e hard to read and some were buried. Some were really sad. (A volunteer) had to cut around the flat stones so we could see them. We took a lot of dirt off." ...
