The Great Western Railway was incorporated to fill that role, and in 1902, the company constructed a depot in Loveland near the railway yards. A smaller freight depot was added in 1942.

A freight railroad transloading company is operating at Lackawaxen, taking delivery of crushed local quarry stone for shipment out of state.
