After two straight years of playing on Christmas, the Chiefs’ hopes of becoming a holiday staple may be fading fast.

Earlier this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs proposed the idea of becoming the NFL's staple on Christmas Day, much like how the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys are Thanksgiving Day regulars.

And if the NFL treats the Chiefs' loyalty in helping build up Christmas like it did the Lions and Cowboys for their Thanksgiving service, Kansas City will keep that spot no matter how bad it gets.

Jones, who is in his ninth season with the Chiefs, will suit up for Kansas City a day after Thanksgiving in a Black Friday matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
