Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday announced a three-day ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8 to 10 as Russia celebrates the end of World War II, a declaration that comes as President Donald Trump has accelerated efforts to broker a peace deal between both countries.

In case of violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the Russian armed forces will give an adequate and efficient response,’ the Kremlin warned.
