The Toronto Maple Leafs take a commanding 2-0 series after winning Game 2 in OT 3-2 over the Ottawa Senators. Max Domi scored the OT winner to give the Maple Leafs a critical win. Toronto was up 2-0 after the first period. But Ottawa came back thanks to goals from Brady Tkachuk and Adam Gaudette.

Advancing past the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs has been a struggle for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past 20 years. They've managed to get to the second round just once since 2005-06, doing so in 2022-23 after dispatching the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

On April 24, 2023, the Maple Leafs busted out for five goals in a 5-4 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference First Round series. In their subsequent 14 postseason games, the only time they exceeded two goals was a 3-2 win against the Boston Bruins in Game 2 of their first round series on April 22, 2024.
