On Monday at 2:40 p.m. an extreme heat warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Tuesday 11 a.m. until Wednesday 8 p.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.

A more severe Extreme Heat Warning also remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday for portions of central and east-central Georgia, where heat index values could reach up to 112 degrees.

Temperatures could feel like close to 110 degrees in Iowa today with much of the state under an extreme heat warning. Severe weather is also possible.
