In addition to signing former UNC star guard RJ Davis and two-time WCC Player of the Year Augustas Marčiulionis, Los Angeles elected to add a historic 6-foot-8 scorer to the equation to help Luka Doncic and LeBron James.
In the deal, the Mavs land LeBron, his son Bronny and Tyrese Martin and Drew Timme from the Brooklyn Nets. The Lakers acquire Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, Naji Marshall, Caleb Martin, Jaden Hardy and two second-round picks. With LeBron James perhaps mulling a split from the Los Angeles Lakers, it's only fair to wonder whether he might be hearing the siren's song of South Beach again.
James' agent Rich Paul announced in June that his client was exercising his 2025-26 player option, which is worth roughly $53 million. Furthermore, the Lakers have also embraced the idea of building the team around All-Star guard Luka Doncic, who is only 26, while James is 40.
