The Memphis Grizzlies are not intending to trade for star Kevin Durant, a source with knowledge of the Grizzlies thinking told The Commercial Appeal.

The Grizzlies traded Desmond Bane on June 15 and created more roster flexibility. That move has led to rumors and reports, ranging from a potential rebuild to interest in Durant, who is expected to be traded from the Suns this offseason.

We’ve seen NBA teams do something similar in recent years. The Clippers traded five first-round picks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for Paul George; the Knicks traded five first-round picks for Mikal Bridges; and the Magic traded four first-round picks for Bane.

With one week to go before the NBA draft, prospects are wrapping up workouts, and trade ideas are being discussed among front offices.
