Tropical Storm Flossie has strengthened off Mexico's southwestern Pacific coast. The weather system reached maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph) on Monday, moving northwest and is centered about 160 miles south-southwest of Zihuatanejo.

U.S. forecasters say the weakening and ill-defined depression came ashore south of Tampico with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

Satellite images show that the storm would weaken as it nears the coast. Even though the storm weakened as it approached land, it will still bring tropical storm conditions near the coast throughout Monday.
