‘Catastrophic error’ eliminates Saskatchewan’s Team McEwen from Brier
Saskatchewan’s Brier drought continues as Team Mike McEwen was eliminated last night by Team Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers 6-4, after what a shattered McEwen called a “catastrophic error.” The last time a rink from the Land of Living Skies won the Brier was in 1980.

As for Sunday’s early action, McEwen and Purcell were tied at one in the third end before Team Saskatchewan scored three points to open up a 4-1 lead. After Nova Scotia scored singles in back-to-back ends, McEwen and company scored another three points to go up 7-3 through six ends before cruising to the 8-6 win.
McEwen tops Kleiter in all-Saskatchewan battle at the Brier
McEwen, third Colton Flasch, second Kevin Marsh and lead Daniel Marsh will now get set to play the other undefeated team in Pool B, Alberta’s Brad Jacobs, on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time to wrap up the round robin. While both teams will make the playoffs, the game could determine who finishes in top spot in the pool.
