The 13-foot-9-inch, roughly 1,654-pound adult — nicknamed Contender — isn’t the largest male white shark ever documented in the Atlantic, but he’s notable to researchers with OCEARCH who say he’s the biggest male they’ve tagged in the western Atlantic, where adult males typically range from 11 to 13 feet.
