The exact number of cats harmed or killed was not immediately available, but Santa Ana Police Department spokeswoman Yessenia Aspeipia said over a dozen carcasses were found at his home. The suspect is believed to have manually harmed and killed the animals, Aspeipia said.

The Santa Ana Police Department announced the arrest of Alejandro Oliveros Acosta, 45, on Wednesday after investigating multiple reports of neighborhood cat abuse and deaths over several weeks.

Police fielded mulitple calls about missing felines and when they went to the suspect's home on the the 2300 block of West Wilshire Avenue the found evidence of "dozens" of dead cats.
