Kentucky Derby and Belmont winner Sovereignty returned from a seven-week rest and cruised to a comfortable one-length decision in the Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga, setting himself for the $1.25 million Travers on Aug.

Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Sovereignty will make his return to the races Saturday in the $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The three-year-old male division leader will head a field of just five going nine furlongs in the traditional prep race for the “Mid-Summer Kentucky Derby”,

Journalism sits atop the Belmont Stakes 2025 odds board at 8-5, followed by Sovereignty (2-1) and Baeza (4-1) for anyone still trying to figure out how to bet on the Belmont Stakes.

Journalism — the horse that emerged as Sovereignty’s rival on the Triple Crown circuit this year — won last week’s Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park. Journalism ran second to Sovereignty in the Derby and Belmont, and won the Preakness, in which Sovereignty didn’t run.

Sovereignty remains the only horse to have defeated Preakness winner Journalism and brought his record to five wins from eight starts, with his sole defeat this year coming when second to Tappan Street in March's Florida Derby.
