Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin is working with FIFA to curate the first Super Bowl-style halftime show at the World Cup final next year. The MetLife Stadium in New Jersey - to be known as New York New Jersey Stadium for the World Cup - will host the final on July 19,

World Cup final, which will be held in East Rutherford, N.J., will feature a Super Bowl type halftime show for the first time in the tournament's history, FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed Wednesday.

That all changed in the early 1990s. Super Bowl XXVI featured the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills and the halftime show was a couple of ice skaters doing a performance to promote the Winter Olympics with Gloria Estefan singing in the background. Estfan was a star, but she didn’t draw a crowd like the stars of now.
