Evacuation notices and a shelter-in-place order near the SPS Technologies fire in Abington, Pennsylvania were lifted Wednesday as crews continue to fight the remnants of the fire, investigate environmental concerns and plan to demolish parts of the site,

The EPA and DEP will continue to monitor air and water conditions to ensure public safety. No hazards have been detected in the area surrounding the fire and the area has been deemed safe,”

The four-alarm fire that has ravaged the SPS Technologies campus on Highland Avenue in Abington since Monday “remains active but contained” as of Thursday morning, according to a statement from Abington Township.
