Ryan Donato’s team-leading 23rd goal wasn’t enough to stave off the Chicago Blackhawks’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.

Ryan Donato was at the right place at the right time on Wednesday night, as has been the case for much of this 2024-25 season. The play looked like it would be whistled down for icing after a long stretch pass from the Chicago end hit Artem Zub’s skate before ricocheting into the Ottawa end.

It's possible the Hawks could get a first- or second-round pick for Donato in the seller's market that has solidified. But there's also a strong argument in favor of keeping and extending him.

Ryan Donato has been excellent for the Chicago Blackhawks, and while the team has had contract discussions with the versatile forward, it looks very clear that they will trade him over the next few days ahead of the trade deadline.
