For the first time at Citi Field as a member of the home team, Soto blasted a home run on Thursday afternoon against the Diamondbacks. He homered for the first time off Dbacks starter Zac Gallen in the bottom of the sixth inning and then added another off reliever Kevin Ginkel in the bottom of the eighth.

“I’m still getting into a rhythm and working on getting my timing,” Soto told NJ Advance Media after the Mets’ 5-4 win against the Phillies last Monday. “I’m still not at the point where I want to be, but I’ve been feeling better little by little every day.” After this weekend series, he’s closer to where he wants to be.
