The State Senate passed the bill that now heads to the House, and then to Gov. Maura Healey, who has said she supports the ban.

While the bill is backed by Governor Healey and the state’s two largest teachers unions, the House has no plans to pick up the legislation, and as of now, there is no immediate path forward.

While the state dominates at the professional level, it's no slouch at the high school or college levels either.
