Brazil's Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro said on Wednesday there were strong indications that the world's biggest chicken exporter had efficiently contained a bird flu outbreak which was reported on a commercial chicken farm in mid-May.

HPAI has had the greatest impact on pullets and egg-laying poultry, where bird housing density is higher, said Dr. Lisa Rochette, a veterinarian with the US Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS).

China has banned imports of all poultry products from Brazil after a bird flu outbreak was detected in the world’s top exporter, halting a trade worth more than $1 billion.
